Hey great website!
It would be great to set up some kind of message
board for those of us who would like to chat about the good ole
days!
I for one grew up at the Cabaret...literally.
My Uncle Chuck was the manager of the Chestnut and I
started working the ticket window and coat room just prior to turning
fifteen years old. When I turned eighteen I could finally serve
alcohol and became a waitress and then a bartender. Tommy's shows were
always my favorite! Not only was the music amazing and the crowd
great, but I usually made a lot of tip money those nights :o)
I think back to those days often. Tommy was always so nice to me...the
kid in the ticket window! One night I accidentally gave someone
the wrong change and I came up $40 short at the end of the
night. I was soooo upset until Tommy came over asked what was
wrong and gave me $40.
I bet he doesn’t even remember that!
Recently I went to the Rusty Nail to see Tommy for the first time in
almost eight years. He was, as usually, awesome...forever the
performer. What surprised me however was that he remembered
me!!! He saw me and my father from across the bar and came over
to us immediately. To say I was impressed would have been an
understatement.
Thanks Tommy for making an otherwise ordinary teenager the coolest
girl in school!
