Music Was Just Half the Story

A lot of people have wonderful memories of the Rumbler's music, and so do I - after all, it was the reason we (the fans) all went to the gigs.  From 'Jet Plane' to 'Boogie Disease', the music was tops!  I used to tell people, the Young Rumblers were the best all-original music party band there was.  And I still believe it!
But really, what I remember most were the Rumblers themselves.  Paul's quiet - almost shy – “Hello”, whenever you saw him.  Jimmer leaping over his drums to greet people that had come a long distance to see the band.  Rob letting us ''pick'' the clothes he wore that night from his descriptions - even though it all clashed (I have the pictures to prove it!).  I remember Chris always inviting me in for sound checks - especially on cold days! - and Tommy, knowing that I never went anywhere without a book, always asking what I was reading.

I remember the kindnesses…..large and small.  From always being willing to say hello or sign something, to worrying about fans left outside in extreme temperatures.  I remember the little talks and the feeling of family.  I remember that the Young Rumblers were always “Human,” never ROCK STARS.

Those are my favorite memories about the Rumblers.  Was the music the best?  You bet!  But that was just the beginning of the story.
